After his operation, Stuart Broad is clearly not being the same sort of ferocious fast bowler which he is known to be, but, bowling is not the main concern for him at the moment.
It’s his batting which he needs to pay special attention to because it has hit the bottommost point in the recent times and that day is not far off when he would be asked to bat below Jimmy Anderson in the batting order.
Broad actually has got good batting skills. It’s not as if he is a blind hitter or something. He has shown at times in his career that he can play proper Cricket with the bat and that too for long periods of time.
He has had a score of more than 150 in test match Cricket, but, off late, the fast bowlers have targeted him with the short stuff and he has not been able to respond to it in the best possible manner.
He has been caught hooking the ball on numerous occasions and a couple of times, has been hit on the body as well.
One out of those blows which he took on his face last year playing a test match versus India in Manchester was pretty severe and it needed him to spend a night in hospital to recover from that.
That blow disturbed him psychologically a little bit as ever since, he has not been looking to get in the line of the deliveries at all.
And, because of the fact that his batting has gone down to such a level, that is having some affects on his bowling as well.
Although, if you see his record in test cricket overall in the last one year or so, you would say it’s pretty okay, but, not fantastic.
So, he needs to work on a thing or two, Broad in terms of his Cricket.
